July, 2026
As stated in the Bylaws of the Mountain State Council of the Blind (MSCB), one of the organization’s primary goals is to advocate for the improvement of the social, economic, and cultural status of its blind and visually impaired members. A key method for achieving this is by providing financial assistance to members to support their participation in important events.
Policy Guidelines for Financial Assistance
The following guidelines detail the process and requirements for receiving monetary stipends from MSCB to attend the ACB Convention:
- Applicants must be members in good standing with MSCB.
- Priority will be given to blind or visually impaired members.
- Only first-time attendees are eligible for assistance.
- Members who have received an ACB Scholarship, an ACB First Timers Award, or a Fellow Leadership Award are not eligible for this assistance.
- Financial assistance will be divided equally among recipients and will not exceed a maximum of $750 per individual. If there is more than one recipient, the money will be split accordingly; only two may apply.
- Applications for financial assistance must be received by July 1.
- Recipients of assistance must fulfill the following requirements:
- Provide evidence of attendance and submit receipts for the events attended. The MSCB Treasurer will issue checks to qualified recipients after documentation is received.
Procedure for Receiving Assistance
To be considered for financial assistance to attend the ACB National Conference and Convention, applicants must complete the designated form in its entirety. All application forms must be submitted by 11:59 PM on July 1, 2026.
