Make your plans now to attend the Mountain State Council of the Blind Convention where Civil War battles left their mark and view the majestic mountains in apple country.
This fast approaching weekend will offer information, resources, expanding ideas and fun-filled activities.  The hotel is convenient with refrigerator microwave combinations and free WiFi in guest rooms.  Complimentary continental breakfasts will be available to guests staying at the hotel.  A Saturday boxed lunch and Saturday banquet buffet selections will be offered, but do not worry; individuals will be available to assist in serving the meal.  Let's make this our largest convention ever!
Once again MSCB is offering two $100 stipends to first time attendees who apply.  Application information is available by contacting Kathy Gerhardt, Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, phone (304) 283-7424 or email:  If you, as a nonmember or member, have never attended a convention, take advantage of the opportunity to reduce your weekend expenses.
The convention will be September 29 through October 1.  Activities begin Friday afternoon with a Technology Expo and an Escape Room activity.  A dining room at the Main Street Grill is reserved for those wishing to eat together at their own cost. Convention program sessions include:  Updates on WV services and programs for the blind, a report from the Grand Canyon Teen Expedition, a Yoga demonstration/activity, a presentation on I Can Connect, and an update from ACB.  MSCB’s annual business meeting will be Saturday afternoon.  A brief walking tour of historical Romney will precede the business meeting.  An award will be presented at the banquet on Saturday evening.  The ACB Director of Advocacy and Governmental Affairs, Anthony (Tony) Stephens will be the featured speaker.  The convention concludes with the Sunday continental breakfast and a post-convention Board of Directors meeting.
Please donate door prizes to be enjoyed by all.  There is always time to socialize with friends and new acquaintances.
